The hole punch can be traced back to a German man named Matthias Theel, who had two early patents for a hole punching device. Fredrich soennecken later filed a patent on November 14th, 1886 for a hole puncher. ( Papierlocher für Sammelmappen). This was eventually celebrated in 2017 with a Google celebration. Since its invention, the hole punch's design hasn't changed, though many variations have been created.
