Yuanyeung is a Cantonese drink made by mixing brewed coffee, black tea, milk, and sugar. It is usually made with three parts coffee and Hong Kong style milk tea, according to the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
The name comes from Mandarin Ducks, called yuanyang, with the male and female birds looking very different from each other, representing the difference between the coffee and tea. The two birds also represent love, romance, and commitment in CHinese culture. According to its owner Mr. Lam, Lan Fong Yuen, a dai pai dong restaurant was said to invent the drink in 1952.
